What are your charms made from?
All of our charms are made from laser cut acrylic; a lightweight, durable plastic, or sustainable wood. We use a sophisticated hand-assembled American laser cutter that uses intense, concentrated energy to cut to a fine detail.
How should I care for my jewellery?
Acrylic is a hard-wearing plastic but is not unbreakable so as such, we advise that you care for it like any other piece of jewellery. Keep it protected from any unnecessary knocks or pressure that may snap the plastic and be careful not to drop it. Ideally, store it in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight that might affect the integrity or colour of the plated chain. Don't wear your jewellery in the shower or during exercise and don't spray perfumes, hairsprays or other harsh chemicals whilst wearing them, as this can affect the finish of the acrylic as well as the chain. If you follow these guidelines, your jewellery will last for many, many years. If a chain breaks or is faulty we're always happy to provide a new one and swap it over for you. Just send us an email, we don't bite!
What are your chains, bracelets and ear wires made from?
Most of our chains, earring wires or posts are either silver or gold plated. Some are steel or gunmetal metal plated as stated in the item description. While we use as many hypoallergenic, eco-friendly items as possible we cannot guarantee no allergic reactions in those with sensitivities to certain metals as we do not manufacture the components ourselves, so have to put our faith in the honesty of our suppliers. We take every possible precaution to try to ensure that our jewellery is nickel-free.
We're always happy to discuss wholesale opportunities with established websites and brick stores. Please check out the FAQ on the Stockists page and get in touch via the contact form, we can't wait to hear from you! We also have a profile on Faire.com UK — The Online Wholesale Marketplace & Store.
Are you on any social media sites?
We're on X, Facebook, TikTok, Threads and Instagram and you can find our profiles by clicking on the appropriate links at the bottom of this site, or by searching for Sugar & Vice. Join the party!
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by all major credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal.
What are your prices in my local currency?
Our store has a built in currency converter so that you can alter the prices to match a choice of US Dollars, Euros, Canadian Dollars or Australian Dollars with ease. If you live outside these areas then we recommend visiting www.xe.com. It's a fantastic site for accurate currency conversions. Please note, once you reach checkout the total price reverts to British Pounds as this is the currency that your payment will be converted to.
Oh no, my order hasn't arrived! What should I do?
First, check your receipt to see if you paid by eCheque or by instant payment! eCheques can take up to two weeks to clear and we cannot send out your items until the process is complete. Your PayPal account will contain details of the expected clearing date. If you sent instant payment, please refer to our 'Shipping & Returns' page for details of what to do in the event that your order is taking more than the allocated time to arrive. We'll always help and you will always receive your order eventually, even if that means sending a replacement :)
Can you make a custom piece for me?
We're not currently able to accept commission work, sorry!
Where did you get your machine and materials from?
We found our suppliers and learnt how to use our laser cutter through immeasurable weeks, months and years of valuable hard work and research. It wouldn't be in our best interests, or yours, to give away trade secrets, although we always wish the best of luck to any fellow entrepreneurial types :)
